Joicelyn Cuisine

“Our food is local, seasonal, traditional Creole cooking! Large portions of typical rice and beans, stewed chicken, fresh fish, barbeque, jerk chicken, stewed pork, soup and more….. our homemade hot sauce is legendary!“ This is Joicelyn’s philosophy and she sticks to it!

Joicelyn starts her days early, on foot, at the markets; fish, meat and fresh produce is what she is looking for. She doesn’t use anything from a can. The coconut milk, a main ingredient for most Creole dishes, comes right from cracked coconuts, which get grated right in the side yard with a hand cranked coconut grinder.

Joicelyn (that’s how she says it’s spelled and is pronounced like Joyce Lynn) is an amazing Creole cook. She works hard to keep everything in the restaurant going, but she cooks effortlessly, throwing everything together and seasoning without measuring anything. Someone mentioned that she makes the best hot pepper sauce (which she just calls “pepper”) in all of Belize and there is no reason to disagree. This is hot sauce heaven!

Joicelyn Cuisine is situated right at the sea and the open air view of the bay is beautiful; there is usually a very nice breeze and the views over the Caribbean are awesome.
